On 28 June 2019 around 2am during prayer, I was given this book title. Prior to this at the beginning of 2019 I had been pondering about what being private means in a day to day life and the Holy Spirit immediately gave me a vivid vision of people gathered in the living room, some sitting on the sofas, some standing and others couldn’t fit because the room was crowded as they all looked at me. I was shocked! He said, “you have invited them all, they all come inside your house when you share your life”. I had to ask myself, am I prepared to invite everyone in my house concerning A, B or C?

We live in a society that highlights the importance of baring diverse facets of ourselves e.g. if you log onto facebook, the first post staring at you asks “what’s on your mind?”. Twitter asks, “what’s happening?”. Furthermore, despite your education or qualifications, almost every job application wants to know what your hobbies and interests are, as part of their recruitment policies. Moreover, in your day to day relationships, be it co-workers, student peers, acquaintances, family or friends, they will at some point want you to share details about your life. It may not be very apparent but the truth is, information is being somewhat besotted everywhere we turn!⠀

So then, where then does one lay their boundaries in such a climate and generation? Being private in the 21st century comes with a stipend of humility and self preservation. The art of being private has a certain level of humility, wisdom, confidence and contentment. There are certainly beautiful qualities & virtues that are confounded in the act of being private and building in silence. I pray that as you read this book and discover these qualities, the Holy Spirit of God will help and empower you to put to practice these qualities and wisdom shared in this book, in your day to day life, finding the inner peace and joy through Jesus Christ as you make those discoveries, steps and choices, Amen.⠀
