Christian Dior: designer of dreams – London Exhibition

Went to the V&A in London and I can safely say Christian Dior’s fashion designs and work is on the top of my Top 3 favourite fashion designers! This experience was incredible and here are my favourites fashion pieces and moments 🙂

In the 1940’s Christian Dior introduced a feminine elegance, class & sophistication that fashion was missing! I truly admire the gift God gave him and his work truly inspires me. As I was looking at everything, it almost felt like I’m looking at Art… the fabrics, silhouettes, colours, design shapes and even small details as threading, fitted together perfectly with each outfit.

On this day I got final CLARITY on which direction to take as a fashion designer. Today I just enrolled for my final degree year for Fashion Design and what a pivotal moment for me to realise that I don’t want to be a fashion designer to make money but I want to be a fashion designer to dress women in beautiful clothes. It’s about how the woman feels & looks rather than what I can get from her. It’s like selling a painting rather than a photograph. The painting is more personal, takes weeks, months or even years to birth/achieve…it’s about creating clothes that will make a statement and stand out. In our current climate, the fashion industry is now driven by how much we can sell (hence, fast fashion) rather than how beautiful, elegant & classy we can make women look.

This whole experience just made me realise how personal fashion designing is to me, taking away all the fear I had about using fabrics such as wools & silks…and other fears I had. My gift was revived and my prayer for you is that you let go of any fear concerning the gifts God put inside of you, to stand against opposition that wants to hinder your gift, that you receive clarity & understanding of the big picture. Don’t be afraid to be yourself, to step out and walk towards the goals set for you by your Creator!
