I visited the Vitra Design Museum (click here for more info) in Wiel Am Rhein, Germany with my university on a European Tour. Visiting this museum was geared more so for “Product Design” students but as a fashion student I can say that this is one of the most beautiful and peaceful museums I’ve been to. It is a little home-interior haven! The Germans are definitely up the list when it comes to design and quality. I was in awe at every piece of furniture and design, the way things were placed together, the colours, tones, materials, shapes! It was incredible! One common thing I noticed is there was more use of big leafy green plants rather than flowers to decorate the spaces, a lot of natural light and airiness to their set ups.I have always loved interior design and take after my mum who loves interior designing and is quite creative; she wanted to do this as a career. Coming here made me appreciate interior designing even more and excited about one day being hands on when I own my own house.
This place had different buildings where people work and the offices were out of this world. We had a tour guide taking us around the site and explaining everything to us. It’s definately a place worth visiting if you come to Germany. The outside of the many buildings & museum of Vitra was just as beautiful. We came at a time when the Cherry trees had blossomed, so everything looked whimsical and picturesque! See my vlog and pictures below:
