Our Story

Lloyd invited me to a New Year’s crossover in London, and I received Jesus Christ as my LORD & Saviour on 1 Jan 2007. He gifted me a bible and would pick me every Sunday to go to church. From being like brother & sister, we soon became close friends! By 2008 we knew there was something special between us. After a week of prayer & peace from God, he asked me to be his wife & we began courting.In the fullness of time, traditional marriage customs (lobola/bride price) were completed. Afterwards, Lloyd gave me this gold ruby ring. Early in courtship Lloyd would call me a “virtuous woman”, hence, the ring echoes Proverbs 31:10, “Who can find a virtuous woman for her price is far above rubies.” ⠀
The ruby has 12 diamonds encircling it.⠀

Sadly, we live in a microwave generation where wedding timeframes do not allow room for Lloyd, me & our love-story to fit in but praise to God who called us to not fit in! Lloyd & I were called to wait till our wedding day to kiss so we have not yet kissed. Also, we haven’t been sexually intimate because we believe in God’s Word & standard of no fornication. Beloved, there’s nothing wrong with us, our bodies or drive, we are human but we love & reverence God. It hasn’t been easy, it’s ONLY by God’s grace that we’ve remained faithful to God & to each other, honouring one another for holy matrimony today. Today we share our first kiss and more! God’s grace is real, the Holy Spirit is real and what Lloyd & I have is real. ⠀

Every love story is unique & yes everyone is not called to wait like us. I’ve learnt that “purity” is more than not fornicating, waiting to kiss on our wedding & being equally yoked; it’s a walk in the fruit of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit helped us to build a complete foundation to carry through our upcoming wedding into our marriage. A foundation of Peace, Kindness, Gentleness, Faithfulness, Goodness, Love, Joy, Self Control & Patience.

On this day, 5 December 2020, we are so thankful to fulfil the important 3 steps to our holy matrimony, in such uncertain times of restrictions & lockdowns. The traditional marriage, the civil marriage and finally today, the Christian marriage blessing. As I look back at our journey, all I see is God’s grace, mercy, favour and faithfulness.
