Welcome to a new month of March 2018! We are in March but right now it’s a white snowy day here in the UK and for the first time in 5 years our temperatures are hitting -7 degrees celsius because of the so-called Beast from the East’s (yes that’s the real name) icy air flow from Russia. I love snowy winters so I’m not complaining haha! On another note, it almost feels as if February was longer than January? Maybe because I want the days to move quicker. I can’t explain it but it each day my heart seems to leap with a new dynamic expectation for the fulfilment of God’s promises for 2018. I don’t understand it fully yet but I know that this year is like no other. There’s absolutely not much I can do about this inner joy and expectation I feel. It’s like a pregnant woman about to give birth!
Before February ended, I was evaluating my season through prayer for further clarity and edification. I find that whenever I have questions, praying always allows me to gain clarity. After prayer, I was talking with God about some areas of my life; I suppose those areas will come to light sooner or later on this blog and elsewhere. There’s things God is yet to fulfil in my life that have taken a long time to come to pass because of His plan. I was just in awe of how some of the processes of those things have been. How God has protected me through-out and guided me. Though, honestly speaking, I almost felt like I’d been tricked, in the sense that I knew the blessing because I was shown the end results, either in a dream or prophetically but didn’t know how hard the process would be. If I had known how hard the process would be, would my obedience have been conditional? I don’t know… I suppose you are reading this and can relate? Do you know your end result for something in your life but yet your process is a whole other story?
In awe, I asked God why that long to go through and He said to me just these 3 words, “for your benefit.” In that moment I realised that God doesn’t do things for His own benefit but for ours in conformity to His will. How incredible is that? How awesome is the Love of God? Joseph (click to read) was probably there too. He knew he would be a leader from the dreams he was shown as a young boy at the age of 17 but it’s not until he turned 30 that these dreams then became a reality. It took Joseph 13 years to go through his God-ordained process of family rejection & betrayal, slavery, being tempted by a seductress, false accusations and a dungeon confined jail. His life looked like it was going backwards but yet it was catapulting him forward! This I why I will never judge anyone by their ‘today’. God is truly so wise, articulate and the master Architect of our lives. Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! (Romans 11:33 NKJV).
He allows us to go through the fire, the storms, the valley, the desert; for our benefit! Such that when we get to the next phase, we are perfected, skilled and mature; being able to maintain and grow in that new phase! The phase won’t kill us because we prepared for it!
You see, your life might look nothing like how it will look tomorrow and that’s okay. What you need to do is to conform your mind to where God is taking you, not where you are today. I’m reminded of Lazarus (click to read) who went through the transition of sickness to sleep; with the sleep looking like death in the natural realm. This is how it is for some of God’s children. They need to sleep like Lazarus, to point of being buried in the tombs of debt, sickness, divorce, lack, troubles, attacks or overlook etc; in order to be raised up in a mighty way that brings only God glory and more importantly a mighty way that keeps them humble!
This month I encourage you to focus on understanding God’s plans and ways. Ask Him for clarity through prayer. Pray in the Holy Spirit so that you can receive edification daily. It’s written, “One who speaks in a tongue edifies himself; but one who prophesies edifies the church [promotes growth in spiritual wisdom, devotion, holiness, and joy].” – 1 Cor 14:4 AMP
Can you see what edification does? It promotes growth, wisdom, holiness, devotion and joy. Now imagine walking through your process with all those added benefits? You would have no worry and no doubts about where you are going and this is where exactly the LORD wants us. To walk through the our short-lived valleys with no doubts and worries but in total trust in Him! Sometimes the goodness of the LORD is not necessarily enjoyable but it is going through processes that create conducive environments that enable an enjoyment of those environments tomorrow.
May God bless you as you explore God’s road for your blessed year.
